Where Handoff Risk Appears
When an agency transfers a completed project such as a website or campaign, continuity can depend on whether the client also receives the knowledge needed to operate it. Maintenance routines, access, decision rights, and support boundaries are useful handoff evidence to inspect.
Operational Offboarding
Treat the handoff as more than file delivery. Depending on the project, the transfer can include maintenance instructions, access ownership, governance expectations, known limitations, and a clear definition of what post-project support is and is not included.
Documentation as a Deliverable
Document the recurring operating steps the client is expected to perform after handoff. The appropriate format may be an SOP, runbook, checklist, or system-specific guide; the important test is whether the receiving owner can use it to operate the delivered work.
