Workflow Inspector Counterfactual · Bounded scenario comparison
Change an assumption. Keep the evidence fixed.
Counterfactual separates observed baseline data from modeled results. Save a frozen snapshot, choose a supported calculation, state the assumptions, and compare or replay the saved scenario without rewriting operational evidence.

What does this calculation show under our assumptions?
Handoff-duration scenario
Apply an explicit uniform duration reduction to a frozen, measured completed-handoff median. Keep the sample and observation window visible beside the calculated result.
Volume-capacity scenario
Explore bounded arithmetic using a stated arrival basis, volume multiplier, capacity, initial backlog, and horizon. Capacity and backlog are user assumptions, not values inferred from elapsed handoff time.
Saved and replayable comparison
Retain the baseline, model version, assumptions, and result. Replay checks whether the stored calculation can be reproduced; it does not validate the assumptions against future outcomes.
Illustrative example
Fictional example, not customer evidence or a measured customer outcome.
- Observation
- A fictional frozen snapshot has a 10-hour completed-handoff median. A user assumes every matched handoff duration is reduced by 20 percent.
- Interpretation
- The modeled median is 8 hours under that uniform-reduction assumption. The 2-hour difference is arithmetic, not an observed improvement or a promise.
- Next step
- Save the assumption and compare it with the unchanged baseline. Gather new observations after a real process test before claiming an improvement.
What you need
- A saved evidence snapshot for the selected workspace and workflow, with a fixed window and measurement configuration.
- At least one completed, unambiguously matched handoff for the handoff-duration model.
- Explicit capacity, backlog, horizon, and arrival assumptions for the volume-capacity model. If observed arrivals are unavailable, an assumed arrival basis must be clearly labeled.
Known limits
- These are deterministic calculations, not forecasts, causal models, or estimates of the likelihood of an outcome.
- A modeled change does not establish achievable improvement, staffing needs, verified savings, or changes to revenue or risk.
- Approval simulations and arbitrary workflow simulation are unavailable in this version. Operational records are not changed by a scenario.
Results describe the accepted records in the selected time window. Missing timestamps, ambiguous event pairs, unavailable metrics, and unverified source completeness remain visible limitations. Missing data is not treated as zero or filled in with inferred activity.
Workspace access and privacy
Sign-in and membership in the selected workspace are required. The server checks workspace membership, product capability, and permissions for each request. Authorized retained history can remain readable after a subscription ends; new records require an active eligible subscription. Evidence and saved records stay scoped to that workspace and workflow; public product pages contain no customer records.
